Vyaktigat Vikas ("Vyaktigat Vikas", "we", "us", "our") runs a personal-growth platform available on our website and as mobile apps for Android and iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to our website, our Android app, and our iOS app (together, the "Service").
Most of our users are in India and the product is Hindi-first, but this policy applies to everyone who uses the Service. By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Short Version
- We collect the data we need to run your account, deliver content (ebooks, audiobooks, courses, summaries, Shorts, community, Lekhak), process payments, ship physical books, and improve the app.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not store your card or bank details ourselves — payments are handled by our payment partners.
- You can delete your account from inside the app at any time, and you can request a copy of your data.
- We use a small number of trusted service providers (listed below). Some of them process data on servers in the EU or outside India.
Information We Collect
Account and profile data. Your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo (avatar), created when you sign up or sign in. Sign-in can be by email and password or through Google or Apple. Optional profile fields such as age group, gender, career/occupation, a short bio, and your language preference — these are optional and you can leave them blank. We also store the language and personal-growth goals you choose during onboarding.
Usage and progress data. Your reading and listening progress, courses started or completed, quiz results, XP points, streaks, and similar activity used to power your dashboard, "Continue" lists, and gamification.
Content you create. Articles you write in Lekhak, audio stories you record, Shorts videos, community posts, comments, and any photos or images you upload.
Purchases, orders, and shipping. When you buy a physical book from the shop, we collect your delivery address (name, phone, address, city, state, pincode) and your order details so we can fulfil and ship the order. Payments on Android and the web are processed by Razorpay; payments on iOS are processed by Apple In-App Purchase. We receive confirmation of a payment and a transaction or subscription reference, but we do not collect or store your full card number, CVV, or bank credentials — those go directly to the payment provider.
Refer & Earn and payouts. If you take part in Refer & Earn or earn creator payouts (for example, as a Lekhak writer), we collect the UPI ID and payout amount needed to pay you, and referral records linking the referrer and referred accounts.
Microphone and audio. The AI Coach (Manav AI) lets you speak instead of type. When you use voice input, your audio is recorded and sent to our server, converted to text (transcription), and then processed as a normal chat message. Lekhak lets you record audio for audio stories that you choose to save and publish. We only access your microphone when you actively start a voice recording.
AI Coach conversations. Your messages to the AI Coach, and the AI's replies, are stored so the coach has memory and context across sessions.
Diagnostics and analytics (collected automatically). Crash and error diagnostics (via Sentry) such as crash reports, error stack traces, device/OS type, and app version — we scrub sensitive fields (passwords, OTPs, tokens, payment signatures) before this data leaves your device. Product analytics (via PostHog) such as which screens you open and which features you use, tied to your user id, email, and subscription plan, so we can understand and improve the product. Basic technical identifiers such as device type, operating system, and app version needed to run and secure the Service. We do not collect your precise (GPS) location.
Why We Use Your Data
- Provide the Service — create and run your account, sign you in, and deliver content.
- Personalize — show content in your language, "For You" recommendations, and track progress, XP, and streaks.
- AI Coach — answer your questions, remember context, and transcribe your voice input.
- Payments and orders — process subscriptions and purchases, ship physical books, and issue payouts.
- Communicate — send account, transactional, and support messages.
- Improve and fix — analytics, crash diagnostics, debugging, and security.
- Legal and safety — prevent fraud and abuse, comply with law, and keep financial and tax records.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), we process your personal data on the basis of your consent or other lawful uses permitted by the Act, and only for the purposes described above (purpose limitation).
Children's Data (Bachpan)
The Service is intended for adults, and account holders must be adults. The Bachpan module is a tool for parents to track their own children's development. In Bachpan, the parent is the account holder, and any information about a child (such as milestones or notes) is entered by the parent — we do not knowingly collect data directly from children, and children do not have their own accounts.
If you are a parent using Bachpan, you are responsible for the information you enter about your child, and you can delete it by deleting the relevant entries or your account. If you believe a child has created an account or provided us data directly, contact [email protected] and we will remove it.
Who We Share Data With
We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Service, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Razorpay — payment processing (Android and web). They, not us, handle card and bank details.
- Apple — In-App Purchase (iOS) and Sign in with Apple. Receives purchase/subscription data and sign-in identifiers.
- Google — Sign-in with Google and Google Play Billing on Android. Receives sign-in identifiers (name, email) and purchase data.
- Sentry — crash reporting and diagnostics. Data is ingested on EU servers (Germany); sensitive fields are scrubbed before sending.
- PostHog — product analytics. Usage events tied to user id, email, and plan, hosted on EU servers.
- OpenAI — AI processing for the AI Coach (chat) and voice transcription. Receives your AI Coach messages and your voice recordings so they can be transcribed and answered.
- Expo / EAS — app build and delivery infrastructure. Receives technical build and delivery data.
Some of these providers process data outside India (for example, on servers in the EU or the US). Where we transfer data internationally, we take steps to keep it protected consistent with this policy and applicable law. We may also disclose data if required by law, court order, or lawful government request, or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
How AI Processing Works
When you use the AI Coach (Manav AI), your typed or spoken message is sent to our server. If you spoke, the audio is transcribed to text. The text is then sent to an OpenAI language model to generate a reply. Your conversation and some derived context are stored so the coach remembers you across sessions. We do not use your private AI Coach conversations to publicly train models ourselves, and our AI provider's standard commercial terms state that data sent via their API is not used to train their models.
How Long We Keep Data
- Account and content data is kept while your account is active.
- After account deletion, we perform a soft delete: we mark the account deleted and scrub personal identifiers (name is replaced; email and phone are removed; profile image, bio, and password are removed; social-login links and active sessions are deleted). We keep the underlying account record in a de-identified form because orders, payments, certificates, referrals, and other financial, legal, and tax records depend on it, and we are required to retain those.
- Diagnostics and analytics are retained per our providers' standard retention windows.
We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy or as required by law.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law (including India's DPDP Act, 2023), you have the right to access or get a copy of your data, correct inaccurate data, delete your data, withdraw consent for processing based on consent, and seek grievance redressal (see below).
How to use these rights in our app:
- Delete your account: Settings → Privacy & Data → "Delete account." This runs the soft-delete and PII scrub described above and signs you out.
- Get a copy of your data: Settings → Privacy & Data → "Download your data." This sends a request to our team, and we email your data export, typically within 7 days.
- Everything else (correction, questions, complaints): email [email protected].
How We Protect Data
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including access controls, secure transmission (HTTPS), and scrubbing of sensitive fields (passwords, OTPs, tokens, payment signatures) from diagnostics. We do not store your full card or bank credentials. No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a personal-data breach that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities (including the Data Protection Board of India, as required under the DPDP Act) without undue delay, in the manner required by law.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy. This policy works alongside our Terms of Service.
