Medical Representative (MR), jise pharma industry mein 'Field Officer' bhi kehte hain, woh insaan hai jo pharma company (Cipla, Sun Pharma, Mankind, Lupin, GSK, Pfizer, Abbott) ka product portfolio doctors aur chemists tak le ke jaata hai. Daily 8-12 doctor visits, monthly 200-300 doctor coverage, chemist visits, prescription tracking, sample distribution, CME (Continuing Medical Education) events organize karna — yeh sab MR ka kaam hai.
India mein approx 10-12 lakh active MRs hain — yeh number Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) aur OPPI estimates pe based hai. Top recruiters: Mankind Pharma (~12,000 MRs), Sun Pharma (~10,000), Cipla (~9,000), Lupin, Dr. Reddy's, Torrent, Alkem, Abbott India, Pfizer. Domestic vs MNC ka divide bada hai — MNC mein CTC + benefits zyada, lekin domestic mein incentive higher.
Qualifications: B.Sc/B.Pharm graduate, age 22-30 typically. Some companies B.Com/BBA bhi accept karti hain agar communication strong hai. Hindi/regional language fluency mandatory hai — doctor with whom you're building relationship usually local language pe comfortable hai. Driving license + 2-wheeler must hai (company conveyance ya petrol allowance milta hai). Training: company-specific 15-30 day onboarding (Cipla CTC Academy famous hai, Mankind has Mankind School of Pharma Sales).
Day-in-life: Subah 8 baje field, doctor clinics 9-1 PM, lunch + chemist visits 1-4 PM, evening doctors 4-8 PM, daily call report (DCR) submit 9-10 PM. Monthly target meetings, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), annual sales conferences (Goa/Bangkok/Dubai trips top performers ke liye). Yeh chat room MR job ke real challenges aur strategies discuss karne ke liye hai.
