    Agar self-harm thoughts hain, harmful objects (medicines, sharp items, ropes) se away ho jaayein. Doosre kamre mein chale jaayein. Distance create karein.

Kisi apne ko support kar rahe hain crisis mein?

Agar aapka koi family member, dost, ya colleague crisis mein hai — yeh chhoti si guide aapke kaam aayegi. Aapko therapist banne ki zaroorat nahi hai, sirf saath dene ki hai.

  • Dismiss mat karein. "Sab theek hai", "tension mat lo", "doosre log toh aur bure haalat mein hain" — yeh sab band karein. Person ki feeling valid hai, chahe aapko kitni bhi exaggerated lage.
  • Argue mat karein. Unki feelings ko debate karna unhe aur isolate karta hai. "Tumhare paas itna kuch hai, kyun udaas ho?" — yeh sabse common mistake hai.
  • Sunne ka kaam karein, solve karne ka nahi. Advice dene ki urge ko rok lein. Sirf "main sun raha hu, aur bolo" — yeh kaafi hai. 80% kaam yahi hai.
  • Seedha pooch lein. "Kya aap khud ko hurt karne ke baare mein sochte hain?" — research clearly dikhata hai ki yeh sawaal poochne se risk badhta NAHI hai, balki ghatta hai. Person ko lagta hai ki koi care karta hai.
  • Saath rahein. Akela chhodna avoid karein. Agar physically nahi reh sakte, video/audio call par rahein jab tak woh hotline pe na pohonche ya ER tak na jaaye.
  • Means hatayein. Medicines, sharp objects, harmful items — politely hata dein ya lock kar dein. "Main yeh thodi der ke liye apne paas rakh raha/rahi hu" kafi hai.
  • Safety se zyada secrecy ko mat rakhein. "Kisi ko mat bataana" promise mat karein agar life at risk hai. Honest rahein: "Main tumse pyaar karta hu, isliye help laana padega."

"Crisis" actually kya hota hai?

Kayi log sochte hain "mera crisis itna bada nahi hai, hotline use karne ke laayak hi nahi". Yeh galat hai. Hotlines aapke liye hi hain — chahe situation kuch bhi ho.

Yeh sab valid reasons hain call karne ke liye:

  • Khud ko hurt karne ya suicide ke thoughts aa rahe hain
  • Koi plan, means, ya timeline form ho raha hai mind mein
  • Aapko lag raha hai ki next 24-48 ghante mein khud ko safe nahi rakh paayenge
  • Hallucinations ho rahe hain ya severe disorientation hai
  • Itni inability hai ki kayi din se khaa, so, ya move nahi kar paa rahe
  • Acute panic attack ghanton se chal raha hai
  • Substance ka misuse out of control feel ho raha hai
  • Koi loss/trauma/breakup ke baad numb ya overwhelmed feel ho raha hai
  • "Bas kisi se baat karni hai" — yeh bhi 100% valid reason hai. Hotlines aapko turn away nahi karenge.

Myth

"Suicide ke baare mein poochne se person karne lagta hai."

Truth

FALSE. Research clearly dikhata hai — direct, caring questions risk REDUCE karte hain. Talking helps; silence hurts.

Myth

"Hotlines sirf 'crazy' logon ke liye hain."

Truth

Nahi. Hotlines har us insaan ke liye hain jo struggle kar raha hai — student, parent, professional, retired, anyone. Aapko 'enough' bimar hone ki zaroorat nahi.

Myth

"Yeh log police bhej denge ya admit kara denge."

Truth

Indian hotlines (Tele-MANAS, Vandrevala, iCall, AASRA) aapki autonomy ko respect karte hain. Woh listen + counsel + refer karte hain. Police unilaterally dispatch nahi hoti.

Myth

"Privacy concern hai — mera data jaayega."

Truth

Calls anonymous hain. Aap apna naam nahi batana chahte toh nahi. Personal data share nahi hota. Confidentiality core principle hai.

Myth

"Hindi mein proper help nahi milegi."

Truth

Tele-MANAS 20+ languages mein hai, Vandrevala 11 mein. Sab regional language counsellors trained aur professional hain. English forced nahi hai.

LGBTQIA+ specific support

Queer Indians ke liye crisis ka context alag hota hai — family rejection, identity struggles, internalized stigma. General hotlines bhi help karte hain, lekin yeh resources specifically queer-affirmative trained hain:
