🤔 Physiotherapists Kya Hai?
Physiotherapy ek allied health profession hai jo musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary, paediatric aur sports rehabilitation cover karta hai. BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy, 4.5 years + 6 month internship) entry-level degree hai. MPT (2 years) specialization deta hai — Orthopaedics, Neurology, Sports, Cardiopulmonary, Paediatrics, Geriatrics. PhD/Fellowship aur advanced certifications (MDT, IASTM, Cupping, Dry Needling) further specialize karne mein madad karte hain.
India mein approx 3-3.5 lakh registered physiotherapists hain (Indian Association of Physiotherapists, IAP estimates). Har saal 40,000+ BPT graduates nikalte hain. Top colleges: AIIMS Delhi, NIMS Hyderabad, MAHE Manipal, KMC Mangalore, JIPMER, MS Ramaiah Bangalore, MSU Baroda, Sancheti Pune. Government regulation abhi tak unified PCI-equivalent body ke under nahi hai — pichhle 5 saal se Allied & Healthcare Professions Act 2021 implement ho raha hai, jisse Physiotherapy Council banega.
Work settings: corporate hospitals (Apollo, Fortis, Max — in-house PT teams), standalone clinics (owner-driven), sports teams (BCCI, ISL clubs — limited spots), home-based physio (rapidly growing post-COVID), tele-physio (Cure.fit, Cult.fit, Practo), and academic (PT colleges, research). Niche emerging areas: women's health PT (pelvic floor, post-partum), animal physio, geriatric home care, ergonomic consulting for IT firms.
Indian context: traditionally physiotherapy ko 'doctor jaisa nahi hai' samjha jata tha, lekin pichhle 10 saal mein awareness badhi hai. Cricket/football injuries, post-surgical rehab, geriatric care demand — sab badh raha hai. Lekin yeh chat room un physios ke liye hai jo daily ground reality face karte hain: doctor referrals, insurance non-coverage, fee bargaining, clinic break-even pressure.
